Angus MacDonald MSP (SNP-Falkirk East) has welcomed local funding from the 14th round of grants from the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund which has seen the Central Scotland Regional Equality Council being awarded a £48,806 grant to run the Eco-Friendly Falkirk project which will work with Black and Minority Ethnic Communities in Falkirk district to reduce their carbon footprint.

The project will raise awareness of climate change, fuel poverty and the links between them, supporting the communities in reducing their carbon emissions. Provision of this support to communities will be assisted by volunteer champions who have been recruited from the communities.

Welcoming the funding, Angus MacDonald MSP said:

“Climate change is one of the most serious threats facing our global community and here, in Scotland and Falkirk district, we want to be part of the solution.

“That’s why the Scottish Government set up the Climate Challenge Fund to support and inspire local communities as they tackle climate change by reducing emissions through a range of innovative schemes.

“I look forward to seeing the results of this scheme in Falkirk district. No single individual, group or even nation can solve the problem of climate change. However, with strong commitment from our local communities – we can all play a part, working together, to make a real and lasting difference.”
