All of Falkirk’s SNP Councillors, Cecil Meiklejohn, David Alexander,and Colin Chalmers, along with Falkirk MP John McNally, have “stepped up” their support for Falkirk Football Club, by investing in the club’s new Step Plaque initiative.
All four are season ticket holders at the Falkirk Stadium the Falkirk Councillors and MP now have their names on the steps in the Main Stand.
The Falkirk Football Club are offering the opportunity to sponsor the steps in the Main Stand in the run up to Christmas, and these season ticket holders wanted to go that bit further in their support.
Commenting on the initiative, Councillor Cecil Meiklejohn said;
“Having been a Falkirk supporter over the years, through the good and bad times, it is always second nature in supporting our local community football club in their aims.
“Falkirk is a proud town, with a proud footballing heritage, which is spearheaded by Falkirk Football Club. Sponsoring the steps, along with my council colleagues, David Alexander and Colin Chalmers and our MP John McNally, is another small way to get behind the club and support them for what they want to achieve for the club and the town.”
Falkirk MP John, McNally added;
“This is a great initiative to get behind. Everyone wants to see their local team do well, and I would encourage all supporters to get behind the club if they can.”
“One of the best things about Falkirk Football Club is that it is a genuine community club with more than just a team on the park.
We have seen half the population of the town migrate to cup finals over the years, and it is a statement of support from the community that, despite our differences, we are all Falkirk Bairns and we can all come together to support our local club.”
