Falkirk West MSP and Minister for Public Health, Michael Matheson, has announced a £2m funding package for short breaks for disabled children and their families.
Organisations will receive £1.3m to provide breaks for children and young people with multiple support needs, while the remaining money will go directly to families caring
for a disabled or seriously ill child to choose their own break.
The funding will also be used to provide equipment for breaks, such as camping gear, and training costs for organisations.
Michael said: “This package of funding is focused on giving families with a disabled child up to the age of 20 the opportunity for a short break, taken either together or separately. We want to see this initiative improve quality of life, health and well-being for hundreds of families in Scotland.”
